Alert

Meningitis can be very serious if not treated quickly. The NHS website has all the information you need, including what to look out for and when to get medical help.

If you think you or someone you look after could have meningitis, or in an emergency, dial 999 to seek medical attention. We understand people are concerned but it's important to follow the guidance. Our emergency departments are extremely busy, please only attend in the event of a life or limb threatening emergency.

Our sites are particularly busy at the moment and our teams are working hard to care for everyone who comes through the front doors of our hospitals.

Think carefully about whether your illness is an emergency before you come in – if you are unsure, dial 111 or visit http://111.nhs.uk.
