Governor for Disabled People - David Leeks
David was born in Basingstoke and has lived in Tadley all his life. He started work as a retail manager with the Co-operative before moving to management positions in the civil service locally and then in London.
David served as a town councillor then borough councillor and was selected as Mayor of Basingstoke and Dean for 2011/12. Other positions David has held include Chairman of Tadley Town Council, Chairman of Tadley and District Community Centre and National Chairman of the British Polio Fellowship.
Governor for Older People - Gerald Merritt
Gerald was born at Newfound near Basingstoke and educated at Whitchurch Secondary School. He worked for Lansing Bagnall (now Linde MH) for 50 years.
Gerald has held several secretarial positions on committees in the world of football refereeing, at local level, for some 48 years and has served as social secretary arranging events and dinners for referees and social activities for Basingstoke and District Football League.
Since retiring Gerald has become a volunteer driver for Basingstoke Neighbourcare and has been secretary for Basingstoke and Deane 'Young at Heart' Over 55s Forum since 2004.
